Every batch, a different tide
The label generator reads a harvest date and draws the tide. The family prints labels as they pack — no designer needed.
Project notes
Overview
A fictional family business harvesting salt by hand on a rocky coast. They wanted packaging that felt as unhurried as the process.
Challenge
A tiny budget, short runs and a product that looks identical from batch to batch.
Approach
We made the harvest date the hero: each label carries that day’s tide curve, printed digitally so every batch is unique at no extra cost.
Process
Material tests with recycled board, letterpress samples, and a small tool that generates a label from a date.
Outcome
A packaging range, a label generator the team runs themselves, and a shelf presence that needs no explanation.
